Satietrol is a relatively new, over-the-counter dietary supplement promoted to control appetite. It’s action is to activate a chemical called cholecystokinin or CCK which is normally produced in the body and helps people feel full. Some studies have shown modest weight loss (about four pounds in four weeks with an average starting weight of 180 pounds which is not as much as we typically see with other prescription and non-prescription appetite suppressants). On the plus side, it is “natural” since it’s derived from potatos and doesn’t require a prescription. On the down side, it has some calories (80 per package), fat (three grams), and carbs (six grams) and should be taken before every meal to be effective. It costs about $40 for 42 servings or 14 days.
