Check the Serving Size

Be sure to check the “serving size” when reading food labels. You may consume many more calories than you anticipate if you look only at the calorie number on the food label and not the serving size. Product manufacturers can make a food appear to contain fewer calories by manipulating the serving size number. For example, even though it seems logical to consider a muffin to be one serving, the manufacturer may list it as two servings. If you don’t check the serving size and simply assume the calories listed are for one muffin, you’ll end up consuming twice as many calories as you anticipated.
