Many restaurants serve food portions that are well above what should normally be eaten. To avoid overeating when eating out, ask for a “doggie bag”. At the time you order your meal, also ask for a “take out container” to be brought when your meal is served. As soon as your meal is placed on the table, evaluate the portion sizes and immediately (before eating the first bite!) take the ‘extra’ food off your plate and place it in the take out container. Take the food home to eat at another meal, give it to someone else to take home, or leave the box on the table.
