Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail

“When I was a kid, my grandmother said that when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I now realize how right she was. I find that it’s much easier to eat well and exercise when I plan for success.

On days when I go to the gym, I pack my gym bag the night before so I don’t feel rushed or forget anything. There’s nothing worse than realizing after your workout that you didn’t pack your shoes or your tie.

I also make a point each afternoon to review my calendar and anticipate any food challenges I might face the following day. If I have a lunch meeting, for example, I make reservations at a restaurant where I know I can order grilled fish or chicken.

It’s amazing how these two simple steps—which together don’t take more than five minutes a day—can make such a difference.” — Brian
